Potty Training 101

We have started potty training yesterday. We were going to start earlier, but she broke her leg and then we never made it around to doing it. She is fighting it. The only thing she likes, is running around mostly naked in a pair of panties.

Here she is trying to go. She did not want me to take her picture. She wanted a book to read.

So far, we've had just a few accidents. We ran an errand today and she did not go while we were out, but did promptly when we got home. Please share your tips/wisdom on how this should go, I haven't even read a book yet. I was going to, but decided I didn't want to read something so boring. I have been setting the timer for every 20 mins and making her go when it goes off. I'm sure she will only be able to go when the buzzer rings...ha!

Yes, keep lots of books by the potty. That helped H a lot. I kept a box of cheap toys and let her pick something out even for trying and then gradually only for when she actually went. We LOVE our travel potty we keep in the car. It has come in handy SO many times that's it's more than paid for itself (One Step Ahead). I had to dig very deep to find the mass amount of patience one needs for p.t. I think you'll do great with it! Just remember, Rome wasn't built in a day!

Good luck, you two!! I can't wait to read more advice and store it away for when I begin with my Kate. Looking forward to more updates!!

Funny - I laughed out loud at the picture. I have no words of wisdom!! I was thinking of keeping a chart with stickers to show James when he gets home. She LOVES to tell him about her day. And I am also planning on bribing her with candy!! Whatever works!

Gabby gets a stamp on her hand when she goes on the potty. She thinks this is so cool for some reason. She picks between a Snoopy stamp and a baby stamp.
