Dance Recital

Kate has been taking dance since August. Every Monday at 3, we've been going to dance. I have been dragging Luke there and trying to keep him from busting in on the session or bothering people and tearing the place apart. They ripped up the road in front of the dance studio, so there were times, I swear we needed hard hats at times to walk through the construction site to attend class. We had to park blocks away at times.
We bought several leotards, because she wanted one with long sleeves.
We had a purple tutu made.
We have several pairs of tights.
We have ballet and tap shoes.
We ordered an expensive, adorable outfit.
We had pictures made.
We invited family.
We had flowers for her once she left stage.
We attended the dress rehearsal the day of the recital at 3:30.
At 6:00 pm she performed....uh, I mean stood there....

See...they are cute. The girl beside her...is dancing like it's her job! She is the one who had a 45 minute nap before performing, she was refreshed. Kate was tired and hungry and overwhelmed with the hundreds of people there. Seriously, hundreds. Huge dance academy.

After the recital, we had a photo session
Sissy and Kate - Sissy's baby will be here on June 23...we still don't know what it is! She shouldn't be picking up Kate.

The Prettiest Girl in the World

Going to get something to eat.

Whew! I've learned a few things from this experience. I'm not cut out to be a "stage mom". I dressed my kid in the parking lot...she could not get into her car seat w/that tutu. I fixed her hair right before she went on stage..in a ponytail. And she has no makeup on. I just couldn't bring myself to put lipstick and fake eyelashes on the little girl who wanted to wear a happy meal shrek watch up on stage.
The other thing I continue to learn....hobbies are expensive.
And I can make friends anywhere...I'm really going to miss the other mamas at dance!

You have me a little scared about dance - fake eyelashes (really!!) Ava took some but didn't do the reciatl this year, but she loved it so we are doing it again next year. But I am sooo not a stage mom either :) I think Kate looks is precious and I love the cake!

How cute! Gabby started dance last week. She was asking me today when the recital was. When I told her next year she couldn't comprehend that!
I remember when I was little and in the Nutcracker one of the little girls pee pee'd on stage.
